From iHealth To Found—Space

Hi, I’m Alex Tyson, CEO of Found—Space.

In my early 20s, I started working in my family’s business iHealth Saunas.  The company had started as a reseller of other saunas brands. However, my enterprising parents developed a range of saunas released under the iHealth Saunas brand that at the time, set a new standard of product quality and customer service in Australia. We continue to support thousands of people around the country who love their iHealth saunas. 

After I started working in the company and got to know more of the customers, I started to realise the positive impact we were having on people’s lives. It was eye-opening. Those who had struggled for years with chronic illnesses and inflammatory diseases were seeing dramatic improvements in their quality of life. Others reported sleeping better, moving better, and looking better. People spoke of feeling more energetic, more focused, and more alive. We had customers using sauna sessions for their cancer management. And it was helping. 

 
I had the realisation that we were not just selling saunas. We were in the business of life transformation and health empowerment. 
 

This set me off on my own journey of personal growth and learning, not just about the science of sauna therapy but about health and well-being in general. Around that time, a load of clinical research was being published about the benefits of saunas and this idea of hormesis or hormetic stress. Exposing the body to different types of stress triggers a biological adaptation that makes you stronger and more resilient. Hormesis is the process behind the benefits of exercise, fasting, heat or cold therapy and even certain nutrients. I became fascinated by the work of Prof. David Sinclair, Paul Taylor, Wim Hof, Dr Rhonda Patrick and the many researchers and clinicians who were ushering in a new way of thinking about health and wellness.

 
When I became CEO of the business in 2021, I undertook a rebranding of the company to create an identity that reflected not just what we did but why we did it. Found—Space describes the room or zone we all need to make in our lives – physically, mentally and spiritually – to connect, nurture, focus and recharge ourselves. It’s about helping people create routines and lifestyle changes so they are pain-free, more energetic, feel good about themselves, and get more out of life.
 
I believe we not only have the best infrared saunas on the market, but we have the best team to give you the service, information and support you’ll need to get the best out of your sauna for years to come. And we’re excited to introduce our new ice bath making us the only Australian company to specialise in hormetic stress technology, or as we call it, hormetic tech.
 
I believe that deep down, we all want to achieve better health, and everyone can, no matter their current situation. I want Found—Space to be that catalyst for positive change in people’s lives.
 
The Dalai Lama once said, “It is our collective responsibility to make the world a better place for future generations.” I am committed to doing my part through Found—Space, and yes, it is where I have found my purpose.
