Do Infrared Saunas Emit Electromagnetic Fields?

By: Alex Tyson

It is well known that using saunas can have many health and well-being benefits. The way infrared light penetrates the body can have a much more effective result than other types of saunas but a question we get asked is ‘do infrared saunas emit electromagnetic fields (EMF)? To help you make an informed decision about what type of sauna to choose, we have put some useful info together below in regards to infrared saunas and EMF.

Found—Space has been supplying top quality saunas to Australians since 2008, making us Australia’s longest-running infrared sauna company. Our approach is to focus on the health benefits our clients can achieve through regularly using their saunas and provide ongoing support to help them get the most from their sauna. We’ve created a full online support system for our clients and we also tailor usage guidelines based on each client’s specific requirements. To find out about infrared saunas and EMF and the best low EMF infrared saunas, read on.

Infrared Saunas And EMF

We are constantly surrounded by EMF through the devices we use and those that are in our homes and workplaces e.g. Wifi, phones, smartwatches, ceiling lights etc. Being exposed to EMF is all part of the world we live in. EMF exposure is related to your proximity to the item that is creating the EMF and the amount of time we are nearby.

When it comes to EMF exposure, there are also varying levels of energy that is transmitted – high energy devices are the ones we need to be mindful about (e.g. microwaves, telecommunications). Infrared saunas generally transmit low, safe levels of EMF (EMF levels do vary between saunas though). The amount of time you spend in your sauna (we recommend 30-45min, 3-4 times a week) is minimal, especially compared to other devices or items we have exposure to daily.

We’re pretty passionate about helping our clients to improve their health and wellbeing through incorporating infrared saunas into their lives. There are so many benefits – and when you combine these health benefits with the fact that infrared saunas transmit low EMF levels and you have a low amount of exposure, you can see why so many people choose these types of saunas to help improve their lives.

Benefits of infrared saunas include:

  • Reduction in pain and inflammation
  • Improved sleep
  • Better cardiovascular health
  • Weight loss
  • Clearer and more youthful-looking skin
  • Muscle recovery
