Infrared saunas use safe wavelengths of light to heat the body directly – they don’t need to heat the air around you like traditional saunas do (only heating the surface of the skin). Infrared heat can penetrate deeper into the body warming you from the inside first, which is what makes them so effective. This is why infrared saunas can operate at a lower, more comfortable temperature.
How hot can infrared sauna get is usually up to 65°C – our saunas can heat to 70; Compared to traditional saunas that usually operate between 70°C – 100°C. When considering how hot can infrared sauna get, bear in mind that by heating your body directly as opposed to the air around you this can also make infrared sauna sessions more comfortable for you as well.
How hot should an infrared sauna be will ultimately depend on your preferences and what you’re most comfortable with, however, we recommend a sauna temperature of 45°C – 55°C (with a session duration of around 30-45 minutes).
You can set your preferred temperature as you are setting up for your sauna session. The heaters will automatically maintain the desired temperature inside the sauna however you can also open the ceiling vent or door of your sauna at any time until you achieve a comfortable temperature. Be sure to remember to drink plenty of water before, during and after your sauna session too.
