Body Detox: Importance And How To Detox Your Body

By: Kai Florence

What is a full-body detox?

Full body detoxification is one of the recognizable routines most people perform to get rid of toxins and harmful substances in the body. Body detox usually aims to clean organs like the liver, kidneys, digestive system, and skin. It could include fasting, using a sauna, taking supplements, or sticking to a diet.

A detox could also be helpful for people trying to reduce their body weight and have a cleaner and healthier body system. So, if you have been trying to lose weight, detox can be used to lose a few pounds

What is the importance of Detoxing the body?

  • Increases Energy Level

Symptoms of your body’s failure to metabolize, absorb, and use nutrients from the diet include tiredness, lack of energy, or exhaustion. They may be the result of less cellular energy caused by toxins building up in the body. A good cleansing program (incorporating appropriate nourishment in the diet) will increase efficient digestion alongside enhancing cellular energy generation. You should feel lighter and more energetic throughout this cleansing phase because it helps replenish vigor and energy.

  • Weight Loss

Body detox sometimes includes fasting and maintaining a healthy diet to help burn excess body fat and reduce body weight. With a nutritious diet, the body takes in fewer calories for easy digestion, which reduces the chances of fat accumulation.

  • Hydration

Drinking a lot of water is essential, and its effects on every body part are significant. Detoxing your body also involves regularly drinking plenty of water to help keep you healthy and enable your body to get rid of waste.

  • Supports Liver Functioning

One of the main organs responsible for detoxification, the liver, works nonstop to remove toxins from the body. However, a detox or cleanse can also be beneficial for your liver because it can essentially take a “rest” from working overtime. A detox helps restore your liver’s health to perform key metabolic and detoxification functions efficiently.

  • Strengthen Immune System

Toxicity accumulation affects every bodily function, including the immune and lymphatic systems. One becomes more susceptible to illnesses and diseases when immunity declines. Therefore, you should perform a complete body cleansing if your immune system isn’t healthy. After a detoxification phase, the immune system may function better, and white blood cells can fight bacteria and foreign objects.

How to Detox the Body

Here are a few ways you can detox the body, whether naturally or with the use of organic substances;

  • Limit Alcohol Intake

Excessive drinking can damage your liver’s functionality by causing fat build-up, inflammation, and scar tissue. When this happens, your liver may not efficiently perform crucial tasks, including cleansing your body of toxins and waste.

One of the manageable methods to maintain a healthy lifestyle is to limit or altogether avoid alcohol. If you do drink, you might want to reduce the daily intake, and if you don’t drink, you may consider not starting for the health benefits.

  • Sauna

A sauna is usually heated to between 158 and 212 degrees Fahrenheit or 70 to 100 degrees Celsius. Therefore, the average skin temperature after using a sauna is around 40° Celsius or 104° Fahrenheit.

Naturally, you’re more inclined to sweat heavily with increased skin temperature. As such, the body can get rid of toxins through sweating. Just as toxins can leave your body by drinking plenty of water, they can also leave through your skin pores in form of sweat.

  • Drink More Water

Your kidneys’ ability to remove toxins is supported by maintaining a healthy water level. Depending on your body size, how much you sweat, how much caffeine you take, your environment, and your electrolyte balance, your water needs may vary. So, drink enough water to ensure that your urine is clear and ensure you don’t go without peeing for extended periods. This means, for some people, drinking at least 60 to 75 ounces of water daily.

  • Reduce Sugar Intake & Processed Food

By consuming less junk food, you can maintain the health of your body’s detoxification mechanism. For example, you can reduce your consumption by letting junk food sit on the shelf. You may manage the temptation if your favorite snack is out of sight.

Another innovative strategy to reduce intake is to swap processed foods with fruits and vegetables and other healthier options.

You can also try detox tea, like green tea, to cleanse your body organs. You can also increase your sleeping hours, as sleep also helps the body detox fast.
